Ahh… the busy holiday season is upon us and in full swing.  I’m sure many of you have noticed dry skin once the colder weather arrived, the humidity level dropped and the moisture in the air decreased.

While we’re all fondly remembering our recent summer fun in the sun (with its sneaky damage) it only added to dry skin.  But do not worry too much—you can alleviate the problem by hydrating.

Our busy lives make is easy to sometimes forget to hydrate ourselves internally and externally.  Dehydrated skin can be rescued by recognizing the early signs of dehydration.  Dehydrated skin is itchy, flaky skin with redness or patches of redness, a rough texture to the skin (instead of smooth) and those unwanted fine lines.

Drinking water daily helps to keep the skin, which is our largest organ as well as our other organs, hydrated internally. Eat lots of fruits and veggies too. Additionally, using a hydrating moisturizer will help externally.  Moisturizers containing glycolic really penetrate the deeper layers of the skin, increasing molecules that collect and retain moisture.  These molecules are called GAGS.

Check your home humidifier and make sure it is working.  You may need to add moisture with a small, portable humidifier.  Again, remember to hydrate internally by drinking six to eight glasses of water and avoid pop and caffeine.  Try not to take extremely hot showers and limit your time in the shower. Moisturize your skin daily from head to toe.

Look for products such as Clinage’s containing Vitamin A, C, and E. Apply a spray mist before using your moisturizer to help absorption. Our Clinage Renewal Spray Mist with green tea and vitamins is also a great choice and makes a wonderful gift too.

Until next time…..hydrate and stay well…..Visit clinage.com for more info.

Give the Gift of Glycolic

Give the Gift of Glycolic

Glycolic acid is a secret anti-aging weapon. Anyone who has used it consistently will agree. You simply cannot get the same results without it. That is why the Clinage Glycolic Peel for Home is the perfect gift for you and those you love.

The Home Peel kit can be used on your face or body and contains everything you’ll need to bring a successful treatment similar to the dermatology plastic surgery office to your own home!

It is perfect for aging skin, wrinkles, crows feet, dark circles, sagging skin, dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and eliminates acne at all ages. It offers deep pore cleaning and refinement – it even removes acne lesions and associated spots and scarring.

Other areas of the skin that show improvement with regular use are stretch marks, softening of rough spots anywhere including elbows, knees, feet, razor bumps and more.

Remember not all glycolic peels are the same in their formulation. There is a pH ingredient structure that must be developed correctly for success.  Clinage has mastered this in the last three decades, offering results second to none.

The Clinage team can educate you on how to use the peel to obtain optimal results.  True skin changes occur since the glycolic formulation and vitamin therapy are in its purest form for maximum results without harming or irritating the skin.  Men, women and teens--with all skin types are candidates for glycolic.

Remember, it is save, affordable and easy to use. Visit www.clinage.com for more information. Until next time.......

Tips for Looking Your Best this Holiday Season

Tis’ the season to be thankful for what we have. I sure am. As a small business owner, I am thrilled to be thriving and able to employ talented, hard working staff who share my mission of helping women, men and teens look great and feel better about their skin.

Here are some simple tips for looking your best and getting through the holidays.

Stress wrecks havoc on your skin. It is true. Keep stress to a minimum. Some studies show that gratefulness combats stress. Adopt an attitude of gratitude, feel better and look better too.

Hydrate, hydrate and your skin will love you. By this, I do not mean alcohol. Sure, enjoy a libation but be sure to also consume lots of water throughout the evening.

Eat skin friendly foods like fruits and veggies. If you are attending a party and are asked to bring something, make it a veggie platter. This way, you’re sure to consumer low calorie snacks that are also good for your skin.

Get plenty of rest—even a nap if you can. Rest is great for our skin.

Finally, whether you're away or home with your relatives, remember to use your glycolic daily. Your skin will glow and your family and friends will notice. After all, tis' the season to look our best!

Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving. Until next time......

Exercise your skin too!

Start your day by exercising your skin with a glycolic cleanser.  Just like our bodies need exercise, so does our skin.  Using a cleanser with glycolic daily removes unwanted dead skin cells, cleans pores, stimulates collagen and elastin and improves moisture retaining molecules which decrease as we age.

The next daily step is to use some higher form of glycolic acid in a cream, lotion or gel to keep the dermis (lower layer where the collagen and elastin are housed) stimulated and making new cells. We need new cells to keep our skin plump and to prevent our skin from sagging and forming fine lines. Our skin will not just appear to look better but the skin is really changing structure, which in turn converts to fabulous results, results and more results.

Daily glycolic products home peels or mini peels offer slightly higher glycolic percentages and concentrates. Depending on the product, you may be able to use these home peels at least once a week, building up to two or three times weekly. Immediately following the application of the glycolic acid based cleaning products or mini peels, the skin is ready to absorb those vital nutrients consisting of Vitamin A, C, E and niacinamide.

These are key to building new skin cells.  Other benefits from glycolic include the fading of dark spots by decreasing inflammation of pigment cells. Glycolic will also keep pores unplugged, clean and free of bacteria, minimizing acne and breakouts.

One-time glycolic treatments make a difference in your skin but for long term results, you must consistently use some form of glycolic products on a daily basis and continue to for infinity.

Take advantage of the new substances we now call cosmeceuticals, which are medical grade substances used for beauty and non-beauty purposes. Visit www.clinage for more info. Until next time......

Using Your Hands to Wash Your Face?

I recently stumbled across an article that implied that you should never wash your face with your hands. The reason stated? Your fingers carry bacteria, and even after washing them, they’re probably not clean enough. Hmm..If that were true, many of us would have to change the way we cleanse our skin.

Well, I think that is definitely not true. Yes, there is bacteria all over your skin, and it’s not always bad bacteria. There’s really no need not to use your hands.

The important thing to remember is to use a cleanser such as Clinage's. The goal in cleansing your skin is to get all of the dirt and debris off of your face at the end of the day.

I suggest you wash your face with warm water as opposed to cold water since warm water helps to soften the skin, allowing for exfoliation. After cleansing, pat your skin dry to remove any excess water.

Over washing your skin can be a problem. We should all aim to wash our faces twice a day. More than twice can result in stripping away the natural oils. Those with acne sometimes think they are suffering because they’re not cleansing their skin enough. But acne and breakouts are primarily caused from stress, hormones and genetics.

So wash up and feel free to use your hands!

A special night

Oh what a night....Last week, of my customers helped us reach out to some of her close friends to share an evening of great food for the skin, compliments of Cooking with Dawn’s very own Dawn Bause, a faithful Clinage user for 20+ years. I made some new friends--always good for the soul and provided complimentary Clinage facials for all.

It was a special night for me. One of the gals shared her story of acne and recent skin issues. I’m happy to say--after 18 months using Clinage--this happy, beautiful woman now feels better about herself.

You see, it works.

Clinage stories were shared as Kelley, my assistant and I traveled the room, offering tips and free advice to a super nice group of women thirsty and hungry for more information. It was an evening I will not forget as this is my passion and my desire--to help women of all ages feel confident and beautiful with at-home affordable products that work.

So a few hours later, with dewey, healthier, ready-for-bed skin, I sent a group of beautiful ladies home. Most made purchases while others might still be considering it. They all learned a bit more about their skin and how to take better care of it as they age. I will get to see many of them for their facials at the office soon which means I will see their skin improve very soon. I look forward to these opportunities to help women be the best they can be. It honors my late father, Dr. Robert Fosnaugh, who developed these products for this very same reason many, many decades ago.

The truth about Vitamin C and the Peel Kit:

We all know the benefits Vitamin C has on our skin whether it is taken internally or applied topically.  My work with topical vitamin therapies began over 20 years ago in our medical clinics.  Recent advancements increasing the stability and penetration effect of ascorbic acid when used in topical formulations has changed the skin care industry.

The excellent results our patients and clients experience with these advanced vitamin formulations has led us to develop the Clinage
Vitamin C Peel Kit.  It uses 10% non-buffered glycolic and Vitamin C Crystals. The Vitamin C crystals are non-oxidizing and pairing glycolic with the crystals makes them   highly penetrating and effective.  The skin’s permeability is improved by lifting off suffocating dead cells from the stratum corneum allowing high amounts of Vitamin C to be absorbed into the lower dermal area.

Available and to be used regularly at home, this product will return your skin to a supple, radiant, healthy state because it :

1.     Encourages the skin’s dermal growth factors through increased collagen and elastin production

2.     Disburses the melanocytes (brown pigment cells)

3.     Enhances the skin’s moisture retaining molecules.

4.     Improves resilience, suppleness, and support of the skin.

This will result in fine line reduction, will even out pigmentation, increase elasticity and hydrate the skin’s top layers, leaving healthy glowing skin. Visit www.clinage.com for more info.

Until next time.........

Dark Circles and How to Lose Them!

Dark circles under the eyes are one of the most frustrating facial features the general public complains about.  Dark circles can be hereditary, many times based on ethnicity. Another prevalent cause is allergies, specifically asthma or long-term allergies and even dust elements, often called the allergic shiner.

Other causes could be swelling from lack of sleep or even an increased salt intact, which can result in the under eye looking dark and forming shadows. Lines and folds can also accompany the dark circles from swelling or aging.

The most difficult dark circles to get rid of are those caused by hereditary factors since they are deep and resistant to many therapies including advanced laser. The allergic shiner can be minimized by controlling the allergies with prescribed medicine or even some over the counter brands.  The dark circles that result from sleep deprivation and the puffiness from a high sodium diet will obviously be diminished by plenty of sleep and a reduced salt intake. Avoid processed foods. Drink plenty of green tea and water.

Luckily, you can also include topical Vitamin C in the form of Magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, which can be used around the eyes up to twice a day to help reduce puffiness and wrinkles. This is a natural anti-inflammatory as well as a collagen builder. Additionally, topical niacinamide assists with building collagen and aiding our skins immunology. Vitamins A and E also help with elasticity and can reduce fine lines.

All of these treatments and products by Clinage will improve your skin and make you look younger and healthier. It is not expensive and worth a try. And don’t forget the glycolic acid, which gets rid of the dead, dull layer and opens the pores for advanced penetration.

Until next time…..
